We left the Royal Bermuda Yacht Club about 1 pm and motored around the north shore of Bermuda to St. George’s to clear out with Customs. The two Customs agents would make a great comedy team, both very quick and funny.
By 5 pm we had Bermuda in the rear view mirror so to speak. It was helpful to get in some miles before dark as the seas were rough and we were all getting our sea legs once again. Getting the sails up and the engine off really helped balance the boat better, but the seas would not quiet. They did not reduce until mid-day the following day and calm for another week. Five miles out of Bermuda the port electric winch failed. Add that to the task list at sea.
