Provo by Land

Sun, April 13, 2014 –

After returning to Caicos Marina and Shipyard, we took off by car to explore Provo by land.  Lunch was at de Conch Shack, a very fun spot in Blue Hills, the northwestern area of the island.  bIMG_1922The restaurant is right on the beach with the most spectacular water of anywhere we have been.  The area has huge amounts of coral reefs and very shallow water, painting a magical mural of colors.

Most of Provo is not highly developed.  When we were here six and seven years ago the Grace Bay area on the north shore was becoming developed with a half dozen resorts and some high end shopping.  What a change!  That area of Grace Bay, which is a 16 mile long georgeous beach, now has resorts along most of it.  The resorts are lush and green on an island that is almost a desert sand environment everywhere else.  The reverse osmosis water plants are busy in that neighborhood.
