April 19-22, 2014-
Our friends John and Eileen arrived late morning and we headed right back to de Conch Shack for an early lunch and beach orientation. John will be doing the off shore trip from Provo to Bermuda with us. Eileen is joining us here for a week of seeing the Turks and Caicos, heading back to work for a week while we sail to Bermuda, then rejoining us in Bermuda.
The next day Bob blocked half a day to finish the generator work before we could go anywhere else on the island. The back end bearing seal was starting to leak and needed to be replaced. Unfortunately, accessing the seal would mean draining the back end oil and removing the cover plate, bearing box, bearing, the seal itself and all the associated O rings. Bob conferred with the technical support people at Fischer Panda and got all the parts ordered for shipment to the incoming guests. They also coached him through the service procedure. What first appeared to be a daunting work effort actually turned out to go quite smoothly. He also caught up on other service jobs for the generator and by mid day the generator was all back together and working beautifully. Thanks Fischer Panda!
The winds and seas had finally calmed for a few days so we sailed back to French Cay. We found it much smoother than when we were there the week before with Kathy and Brad. We all popped in for a swim and snorkel.
