Atlantis

Wed, Feb 26, 2014–

We sailed from Devil’s Cay in the Berry Islands to Atlantis on Paradise Island/Nassau.  When we arrived we upgraded our slip to be closer to the main part of the resort.  Four years ago we went for the least expensive slip and were almost in the outer harbor.  We still had access to everything then, but it was a longer walk.

Thurs, February 27th–

Bob washed the outside of the boat, Sara did final provisioning, and we were ready when Lauren and Mark arrived about 3:30 pm.  We all put on swim suits and raced for the water activities before everything closed at 5 pm.  We did the Lazy River ride on a water park version of inner tubes.  Slow but fun.  It juiced up our interest in doing all we could then following day.

Fri, February 28th–

We sent Lauren and Mark off for some alone time at the resort while we did some projects.  We met them at noon for lunch then spent the afternoon doing all of the water rides.  What fun!  Mark had brought a GoPro and filmed some of the rides.   We all did the water rides on tubes.  Bob, Lauren and Mark did the very scary body slides from high altitude and a straight vertical drop.  I tried to take pictures of each of them.  Bob and Mark went by too fast.  Lauren, on the other hand, went just as fast but screamed at the start, letting me know to start filming.

Sat, March 1–

Lauren and Mark swam with the dolphins early.  We then headed out across Yellow Bank to Allens Cay at the northern end of the Exumas.   Much of the time was spent watching for coral heads.  We did manage to hit one.  No damage, but it does raise the adrenaline level.  It is also a reminder of why you should only sail by daylight in the Bahamas.
