What Gulf Stream?

Sat, Feb 22, 2013-

We left Key Biscayne about 8 am and motored across a very calm gulf stream.  It was so calm and still early enough in the day that we decided to pass by Bimini (we had been there in 2010) and continue across the bank.  About 5 pm we made sure we were off the rhumb line across the bank, turned off the engine and put down the anchor.  We swam off the boat and had dinner in the cockpit.  That was delightful.  In spite of being in Florida for awhile, we had been in long pants and dining below due to still cold weather.  Finally we were able to enjoy the warm island water and air!

Motoring across the bank, Bob put out the fishing line and wow – caught a 42″ Mahi.  Bob did a great job filleting it and we not only had a great dinner, but froze about 7 more meals.  They are a beautiful fish – blue, green, and yellow.  We took pictures and got out the tape measure to prove the size was not just a fish story!
