Ft. Lauderdale

We finally left Titusville after two months.  The folks at the marina were wonderful to work with, but it was time to get going.  We headed south on the ICW, out the inlet at Port Canaveral, and motored south for 24 hours, coming into Lake Worth Inlet mid-afternoon on Monday.  It was familiar, as 7 years ago we spent three days there waiting for a weather window to cross to the Bahamas.

The following morning we headed south again, motoring without wind, to Ft. Lauderdale.  Las Olas City Marina was a perfect location for the next three days.  It was a walk to the ocean.  We took long walks every day to explore the neighborhood and get exercise.  Andy arrived with our repaired canvas and installed the snaps for the new hatch cover.  Several pilgrimages were made the super West Marine while we were there.

Again we motored offshore from Ft. Lauderdale to Key Biscayne.  We arrived at the entrance to  Government Cut and found a sailboat run aground just inside the cut and three cruise ships exiting the harbor.  With the addition of the Coast Guard and Tow Boat US trying to help the sailboat, it was a real traffic jam.  We hovered around outside for awhile and let the area clear before going in.

After motoring through Miami Harbor and across to the southern shore of Key Biscayne, we put the anchor down just after dark.
