Provo South Side

Turks and Caicos require everyone coming into the country to check in within 24 hours of arrival, so we headed into the government dock at Sapodilla Bay.  That was an experience.  For a first timer it would not have been a good first impression.   The rough seas to get there were Mother Nature’s planning, but the dock itself was pretty bad.  It is really set up for major cargo barges to go in.  Our dinghy was getting beaten up banging against a cement wall with very little protection and climbing out of it onto the roadway was a challenge.  bIMG_1865The broken off areas were tough to get over and not get scraped up.  Once on land the process was pretty simple.  As we left to climb back over the cement wall into the dinghy I took pictures of the area to show the delapadation and one of the Customs office as well.  At that point one of the Customs officers came out to tell us that it is illegal to photograph the area.  While security may be the real reason, it certainly seemed something the Department of Tourism probably implemented.

At high tide we motored across the southern side of Provo and into the Caicos Marina and Shipyard.  We needed to be within an hour of high tide to get through the entrance into the marina.  After hailing the marina for most of the hour trip and getting no response, we set our plan for getting ourselves onto the dock and headed in.  To our surprise two police officers from the Maritime Police came out of their office and caught our lines.  That was nice customer service!
