Company!

Bob and Maureen arrived mid-day.  We went to Peace and Plenty for lunch before going back to the boat.  They are planning for a journey south on their boat next winter to spend time in the Bahamas.  It was fun to share the experience with them.  It felt like a bit of an orientation.

Tues, March 11-

We sailed north to Galliott Cut where we anchored for the night.  The two Bobs spent the afternoon practicing with the new spinnaker.  It worked beautifully and looked great.  It was the first time we had used an asymmetrical spinnaker so having Bob Kennedy’s knowledge was wonderful.

Wed, March 12-

Timing the tides to into Compass Cay as close to high tide as possible, we determined that we now had an opportunity to stop at Black Point to show the area to Bob and Maureen and to deliver books from the Andover classes to the students at the All Age School at Black Point.  Weather being a constant challenge in March, we wanted to be sure to get the books delivered in case we were not able to get back to meet with the classes again.   The anchorage at Black Point is pretty, but extremely rough in rolly seas and impossible if there is any west in the wind.

We arrived toward the end of the school day.  Paula, the principal greeted us with hugs and enthusiasm.  We did some photos with the kids.  They were cute choosing books for themselves.  One first grader was thrilled to find a book on puppies.

bIMG_1784With the Kennedys, we spent the week at Compass Cay and Staniel Cay before sailing back to GeorgeTown on Saturday.  Sunday we went to Chat and Chill for the weekly pig roast.  Unfortunately the pig got the day off, but the hamburgers were good.
