Tucked In for the Winter

Wednesday, Oct 29, 2014 —

After a night at sea, motor sailing with little wind, we arrived back in Barcelona and our home for the next six months.  Barcelona’s weather is similar to South Carolina.  It is still warm by day with people out on the beaches.  As the sun goes down, so does the temperature, but it is mild.

bbDSC_2254During our passage we picked up an additional member of the crew–one with feathers!  He sat on the deck for a few hours enjoying the ride before taking flight once again.  It is incredible to think these little guys stray so far from a perch, it was nice to think we could provide at least a brief respite.

Once in our winter slip we went about rigging our slip with winter dock lines and springs, washing down the deck and topsides, and starting the not so trivial task of reorganizing our gear for stationary living.

After a  quick visit by Sara’s sister Kathy and her husband Brad, full of city exploration, we packed up and were off to Boston for a few weeks.
