Boston for the Springtime

May 12-19, 2014

Back to reality with a trip back to Boston to see Sara’s family and get some home tasks done.  We arrived in Boston with spring in full bloom, a most special time to be in Boston; winter, what winter…

While there we met with the Andover fourth grade classes that are following our journey.  The GoPro film we had made was a hit with the kids.  The camera had been mounted on the back of the boat allowing the kids to see the boat sailing through rough seas between the Bahamas and Provo, T&C.  It also had a tour of the inside of the boat which answered the fourth grade question of “where’s the bathroom”.    John and Jack provided commentary and action, with John showing the art of balancing on a swaying boat while washing dishes.

The kids had sent us messages in a bottle that we loved.  Each of them had written a message.  It is fun to see what is going on in their world.  That gave us the idea of doing a message in a bottle from the class as we cross over to Europe.  Each of the students signed their name on a piece of paper which we took back to the boat.  Of course that meant we had to drink a bottle of wine to create the vessel!

Sara had some good time with her father, a priority.  It was also a chance to enjoy a family cookout to celebrate family events and catch up with siblings and nieces and nephews.
