Stormfront

Tues, Sept 3, 2013-

Our plan was to sail to Edgartown via the Canal.  Just before getting to the entrance of Woods Hole, our friend Bill called to say there was a severe weather alert coming over the TV stations.  We had seen the darkening sky and tuned in to both the WX channel and 16 for any warnings from the Coast Guard but had heard none.  After Bill’s call we turned around and headed for Kingman Yachting Center.  Lightening was starting as we motored into the mooring field.  We managed to pick up a mooring just before the full brunt of the storm hit.  We saw a steady 30 kts of wind, 2 hours of lightening, and at least 3 inches of rain.  Plans to meet Kathy and Bill for dinner were washed out.
