Espana

After 2 nights on the anchor at Faro it was time to put Portugal in the rear view mirror and head to Spain.  A long day of motor sailing with very little wind got us to Cadiz mid-evening.  Cadiz is an hour ahead and on the western end of the new time zone so the sun now sets at 9:45 pm.

Everyone in Portugal seems to speak English.  Not so in Spain.  We discovered the harbor master at Cadiz had two words in English – wind and thank you.  We were not much better so communication was a challenge.  As we gave him blank looks he seemed to think that if he talked more and faster that we would catch on.  In addition he insisted in helping us with docking the boat in a different slip, giving directions the entire time.  Or at least we believe that was what he was doing.  Somehow the boat got settled, he seemed happy and we may or may not be checked into the country.
